CHIMNEY SWEEPING & INSPECTION
Heights Above The Rest
Soot, creosote, and animal nests turn chimneys into fire hazards. We clean, inspect, and certify — so you can light a fire without losing sleep.

FIRE PREVENTION
Every wood-burning fire leaves behind creosote — a tar-like residue that coats the inside of your flue. Once it builds up past a quarter-inch, it becomes one of the leading causes of house fires nationwide. The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual chimney inspections for every wood-burning home, no exceptions.
But creosote isn't the only issue. Birds, squirrels, raccoons, and bats nest in unused chimneys every spring and fall, blocking ventilation and risking carbon monoxide backup. Loose mortar, cracked flue tiles, and water damage compound the problem over time — most homeowners don't realize how bad it's gotten until they smell smoke in their living room.
We sweep, inspect, and document the condition of your chimney top to bottom. You get a written report, photos of anything we find, and an honest recommendation on what (if anything) needs fixing. No upsells, no scare tactics. Just facts.

INSPECTION LEVELS
Most homeowners only need a Level 1 annual inspection. But if you're buying a home, recovering from a chimney fire, or noticing strange smells, you may need more. Here's what we offer:
Your routine yearly checkup. We examine all readily accessible portions of the chimney, fireplace, and connections. Perfect for homeowners who use their chimney regularly and haven't had any major issues. This is what most homeowners need.
Required when buying or selling a home, after an operating malfunction, or after a chimney fire. Includes a video camera scan of the flue interior to catch hidden cracks, damage, and structural concerns. Mortgage lenders and insurance companies often require this.
The most thorough inspection. May involve removing parts of the chimney or building structure to investigate hidden hazards. We only recommend this when serious structural damage is suspected — never as a default upsell.

WHAT YOU GET
When you book a chimney sweep with Island Chimney Service, you're not getting a 15-minute brush-and-go. Our technicians follow a complete CSIA-certified process from arrival to cleanup. Drop cloths go down before we start. Your home looks exactly the same when we leave — except your chimney works better.

ADD-ON PROTECTION
Brick is porous. Every rainstorm pushes water deeper into your chimney's masonry, freezing and expanding in winter, causing spalling, cracking, and eventual structural failure. Long Island's harsh winters accelerate this damage every single year.
We apply a vapor-permeable waterproofing seal that blocks water from entering while still letting moisture inside the masonry escape. The seal is invisible, doesn't change the appearance of your brick, and lasts 7-10 years. Combined with proper cap installation, it's the single best investment you can make in your chimney's longevity.
